The stylin' King François 1er (reign 1515-1547) was considered to be France's first Renaissance monarch. A patron of the arts and a man of letters (ooh-la-la!) King François loved his Malbec so much that he hired vintners from Cahors to create the vineyard at Fontainebleau!
