ZETTE FRET OF THE WEEK: Summer Staples

ZETTE FRET OF THE WEEK! Summer Staples
Summer has descended, and I had no idea what to wear until I watched (for the gizzilionth time!) Marion Cottilard in La Vie en Rose. With a glass of ZETTE and a bowl of green olives by my side, my eyes took in Edith Piaf’s revolving collection of black dresses. It got me thinking of my favorite women of all time and what they have in common. Epiphany! The staple.
Edith Piaf’s black dress, Amy Winehouse's ballerina slippers, Anna Karina’s colored tights, Tina Turner’s mini-dress. No matter what was hot at the moment, their signature look always looked hotter.
So ladies, I will NOT be donning a maxi floral sundress or a shrunken mans vest this summer like all the other girls on the block. (First of all, maxi’s look bad on anyone under six feet, and vests…I am just not one for waiter chic!)
I plan on marching out in a revolving supply of simple black cotton dresses I picked up at H&M. What will make them mine? A thick gold mesh belt my grandmother gave me from her closet when I was a little girl. I finally know what to do with it! I’ll complete my look with matching gold earrings in the shape of fish and, how can I not, a pair of sandals from the 3.1 Philip Lim collection for Tatami. I’m done! I’ve got my summer staples. A star is born! A spin on Edith’s original made completely mine.
As Diana Vreeland said, why don’t you….
What are you going to wear?
